Known as "Seattle's Wizard of Color" his mastery of tone and palette knife application sines through in the powerful crashing waves against rugged coastal cliffs.
Merlin was also well known for his famous pin-up girls, advertisement illustrations, portraits and "how-to" art books.He received many prestigious art awards including fellowship in the Royal Society of Arts in London.
